Contactless Intercom With The Aiphone IX System

THE CHALLENGE:

Minimising human contact in response to COVID-19 and help prevent spreading the virus with the IX series intercom.

THE SOLUTION:

The IX and IXG systems are a Peer-to-Peer, full IP intercom system that has optional input connector ports that can function to make a call, answers a call, as well as to terminate a call. The auto-answer feature is also available.

The following case studies are actual implementations done across Australia.

CASE STUDY 1:

WASTE DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING CENTRES

Aiphone has implemented contactless intercoms at various waste management centres in Australia. In this case study, the IX-SS-2G, IX-SSA or the IX-DV is connected to a motion sensor or a weight sensor that is triggered when waste collection vehicles or visitors’ cars, approach a bollard in which the intercom is installed.

The sensor triggers the door stations above to call the master station inside the office where the centre’s employee will attend the caller at the entrance station accordingly with an IX-MV7.

CASE STUDY 2:

HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many hospitals and health care facilities have sought after contactless communication solutions through intercom systems.

In this second case study, two IX-SS-2G devices were installed inside and outside the quarantine room. The IX-SS-2G outside the quarantine room can initiate the call by pressing the call button. The IX-SS-2G inside the room will auto-answer when receiving a call. The call time can be programmed flexibly with the option to keep the communication open indefinitely. The call can be terminated by pressing the call button on the IX-SS-2G outside the room.

TECHINCAL NOTE:

WASTE DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING CENTRES

The IX system is a Peer-to-Peer full IP intercom system that doesn’t require complex server programming, server maintenance space or cost. As the IX system is powered by a PoE switch, it doesn’t require an individual power supply. It’s flexibly scalable from 2 devices to up to 9999 devices.

METHODS TO INITIATE A CONTACTLESS CALL:

  1. Use a motion detector, pressed pad, etc. to place a call from a door to up to 20 master stations without having to touch anything.
  2. Use a motion detector, pressure pad, etc. to place OR answer a call from an IX-MV7 master station without having to touch anything.
